The first thing you notice about Mitchell County is the well kept homesteads, the variety of open spaces such as prairies, thriving creeks, multi-use parks and community centers; then you notice all the maple trees. 

Environmental stewardship is not just a catch phrase in Mitchell County, it’s a way of life. City government is striving to be a "Green Business" and we're trying to get  the County Supervisors to list Climate Protection as one of its top priorities.
